SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Lt. Gen. (select) Jeffrey L. Harrigian will take command of U.S. Air Forces Central Command from Lt. Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., during a ceremony here on July 22.
The ceremony will be officiated by U.S. Army Gen. Joseph L. Votel, commander of U.S. Central Command.
As the air component commander for USCENTCOM, Harrigian will be responsible for developing contingency plans and conducting air operations in a 20-nation area of responsibility covering central and southwest Asia. His previous job was director of the F-35 Integration Office at Headquarters, U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon.
Shaw Air Force Base, where the ceremony will take place, is the stateside headquarters of USAFCENT. The command also has a forward headquarters at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.
