The crew then loaded him onto a U.S. Air Force HC-130P Hercules in order to transport the patient to a medical treatment facility during an aeromedical transport mission. The HC-130P Hercules is assigned to the 76th Expeditionary Rescue Squadron who is responsible for conducting combat search and rescue and as well as personnel recovery missions in Afghanistan and assist with casualty evacuation missions when available.
