A final farewell

The final flight

Col. Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, is part of a small pool of approximately 80 U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft pilots. On May 5, 2010 he flew his last flight racking up 89 combat sorties and more than 4,700 hours of flying time. Soaring at the edge of space

The feat of flying his first solo flight in the U-2 Dragon Lady on May 24, 1993 crystallized for Colonel Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group Commander, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, as he hung up his space helmet May 5, 2010, after 17 years of flying at the edge of space. His final flight was marked by a fini flight or final flight. Upon landing, he was handed a bottle of champagne in honor of his achievments.
