C-130 - Five decades later, still going strong
SOUTHWEST ASIA – The crew of a C-130 Hercules assigned to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing prepares for a night mission at an undisclosed air base here Nov. 27, 2010. SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A loadmaster from the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing directs a K-loader full of cargo as it approaches the ramp of a C-130 at an undisclosed air base here Nov. 19, 2010. A K-loader is a specialized flat-bed truck designed to carry multiple pallets of cargo from a marshalling yard to waiting aircraft. The K-loader's bed can be raised, lowered or pitched in four different directions so that it mates perfectly with the cargo bay of any airlifter. The bed also is fitted with a roller system that allows Airmen to push pallets weighing up to 7,000 pounds off the truck and onto aircraft with ease.
