Chief of safety recognizes Al Udeid Airmen for safety contributions
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Brandon Roell, right, 79th Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron radiology technologist, explains computed tomography (CT) scanning protocols to U.S. Air Force Chief of Safety, Maj. Gen. Kurt Neubauer, during his visit, Dec. 2, 2014, to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Roell recently received an award of distinction for his outstanding contribution to ground safety. While reading a civilian medical journal, Roell discovered that new CT parameters have the potential to reduce a patient's radiation dose while maintaining the quality of the diagnostic images. He used this knowledge, combined with his previous experience, to engineer new CT scanning protocols, which ultimately results in improved safety for patients.
