A flight crew from the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron guides a KC-10 Extender, also from the 908th EARS, in for a landing at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia on June 2, 2010. According to statistics from Mr. Yancy Mailes, 380th AEW historian, KC-10s assigned to the 908th EARS and the Airmen who support and fly them flew more than 230 missions off-loading nearly 35 million pounds of fuel to more than 2,100 aircraft from January through April 2010. The 908th EARS, as part of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, supports operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The 908th EARS is a sub-unit of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. In addition to the KC-10 Extender, the 380th AEW is home to the U-2 Dragon Lady, E-3 Sentry and RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft. The wing is comprised of four groups and 12 squadrons and the wing's deployed mission includes air refueling, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of overseas contingency operations in Southwest Asia. An Air Mobility Command C-21 is seen coming in for a landing over a parked KC-10 Extender at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia on Feb. 10, 2010. The KC-10 Extender, deployed from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., is a part of the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. KC-10s assigned to the 908th EARS fly combat air refueling missions in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Air refueling giant -- KC-10s and Airmen who support them fly combat missions in Southwest Asia
KC-10 Extender aircraft from the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron are parked on the flightline for the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing at a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia on May 19, 2010. According to the 380th AEW history office, In the first three months of 2010, Airmen supporting the KC-10 deployed air refueling mission in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility helped the KC-10 fly more than 1,000 sorties offl-loading more than 108 million pounds of fuel to more than 6,600 aircraft in support of combat operations.
