COMBAT TRUCKERS
SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Endless lines of trucks assigned to the 586th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron's 70th and 424th Medium Truck Detachments sit ready and loaded for a line hual mission out of an Army camp in the Persian Gulf Region. Air Force vehicle operators and vehicle mechanics have performed in-lieu-of taskings for their Army brethren since 2004 providing gun truck security duties to the line haul missions in and around Iraq today. More than 600 of these logistics readiness warriors deploy annually to this dangerous and deadly combat mission in which countless Airmen have been killed and wounded in action by small arms fire, improvised explosive device attacks, and more.
