In deployed locations, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is another work day, but Airmen, Soldiers and contractors stationed and working at the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan, took a few minutes out of their day to participate in a Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative walk Jan. 16, 2012. The walk began in the transient tent area and ended at the community activities center where the gospel choir shared music with the crowd and guest speaker Maj. Airmen from the Transit Center at Manas help a boy get fitted for a new winter coat during an Operation Warm and Dry distribution held at the Lenin School #4 in Balykchy City, Kyrgyzstan, Jan. 15, 2012. The more than 1,000 coats and 200 blankets distributed in Balykchy were purchased locally in Bishkek with U.S. government funds. Airmen from the Transit Center at Manas along with Peace Corps volunteers sort girls coats according to size during an Operation Warm and Dry distribution held at Lenin School #4 in Balykchy City, Kyrgyzstan, Jan. 15, 2012. With two simultaneous distributions, more than 1,000 coats and 200 blankets were given to Kyrgyz Republic citizens in need in Balykchy, becoming the largest distribution event since the program's creation in 2009. A total of $30,000 was allocated for the coats and $3,300 was spent on the blankets given out in Balykchy.
