Master Sgt. Ryan Witmer, 376th Air Expeditionary Wing flight safety NCO, loads an air pellet rifle as part of his duties for the bird and wildlife aircraft strike hazard program April 6, 2013, at Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan. BASH aims to prevent birds and other wildlife from hitting aircraft through the use of pyrotechnics, habitat modification and other safety precautions. Witmer is also responsible for investigating safety mishaps and teaching others how to help prevent future incidents from occurring.
