From maintenance to take-off: AAF trains on Mi-17

Members of the Afghan Air Force Intermediate Maintenance Squadron at the Kandahar Air Wing, Kandahar, Afghanistan work to do maintenance overhaul on an Mi-17 helicopter, Feb. 12, 2013. This type of maintenance restores the helicopter back to its original structural design. “I am most proud to have an independent Afghanistan and Air Force,” said Lt. Col. Fakhrudin Noorzia, IMS commander. “My goal is to provide good aircraft to the pilots in order to accomplish the mission. We’re very fortunate to have the advisors here to help us reach our goal.” The IMS is currently being advised and trained by the 442nd Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron under the 438th Air Expeditionary Wing based at the Kabul International Airport, Kabul Afghanistan.
