Tech. Sgt. Amber Grimes, U.S. Air Forces Central Command band ‘Top Cover’ lead vocalist, serenades Capt. Hershey Langston, U.S. Forces Afghanistan communications planner, during a farewell concert at the Memorial Plaza Nov. 25, 2011, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia. During its deployment, the band toured seven countries and made more than 80 appearances, playing such songs as “Forget you” by Cee-Lo Green, “R.E.S.P.E.C.T” by Aretha Franklin, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey and “Freebird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Grimes, a native of Columbus, Ga., is deployed from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Langston, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., is deployed from Minot Air Force Base, N.D.
