Afghan National Army religious cultural advisor Col. Khalilullah (right) introduces U.S. Army Chaplain (Maj.) Brian Curry to some of the guidelines posted at his unit's headquarters during a partnership visit at Kandahar Airfield Nov. 15. The posters serve as a reminder of values and proper behavior for the Afghan forces, and they are similar to the U.S. Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. This visit was the first opportunity the two sets of religious advisors have had to exchange information about their roles within the military, and through their discussions they discovered many similarities, including their roles as educators amongst the unit. While Khalilullah and the other Afghan advisors focus on cultural and religious training, they are also responsible for the literacy and English language training within their units. Meanwhile, Curry and his other chaplains and assistants provide spiritual support, suicide prevention training, and financial readiness training. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt. 1st Class Stephanie L. Carl)
