Senior Airman Jorge Henry, a joint terminal attack controller deployed to the 817th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron, is saluted by Lieutenant General David Goldfein, commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, after being presented a Purple Heart for wounds sustained during a nine-hour firefight in Afghanistan August 12, 2011. Goldfein was once shot down himself, and honored the JTAC with a salute to show his appreciation for being rescued by Airmen like Henry. Henry, deployed from the 25th Air Support Operations Squadron, Schoefield Barracks, Hawaii, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand early in the battle and continued to call in close air support throughout the firefight. He also received the Air Force Combat Action Medal. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sergeant Gary J. Rihn)
