A pararescueman from the 46th Expeditionary Rescue Squadron awaits the landing of an HH-60 Pave Hawk April 18 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. On this day the team rescued a British quadruple amputee by conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation, providing assisted breathing, administering IV fluids and blood products, shocking the patient with an in-flight defibrillator, and administering life-saving medications. Although she succumbed to injuries, the patient was able to successfully reunite with family members in Great Britain one last time. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Willard E. Grande II)
