C-130 - Five decades later, still going strong

SOUTHWEST ASIA – The crew of a C-130 Hercules assigned to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing prepares for a night mission at an undisclosed air base here Nov. 27, 2010. The C-130 is used primarily for tactical airlift and can operate from dirt strips in austere locations. Five decades have passed since the Air Force issued its original design specification, yet the C-130 remains an essential transport aircraft for moving troops and cargo across the U.S. Central Command’s Area of Responsibility.
