Bagram Airmen fuel mission one gallon at a time

Airman 1st Class Dustin Henke, assigned to the Petroleum Oils and Lubricants flight, 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, examines a liquid oxygen sample for odors and debris prior to releasing it to use in aircrafts at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, Oct. 14, 2010. LOX, stored at -297 degrees Fahrenheit, is used in aircraft for aviators to breathe and has recently been used in helicopters to supply casualties with oxygen while being transported. The Petroleum Oils and Lubricants flight, ranked fourth in the Air Force for most gallons pumped, pumps 8 to 9 million gallons monthly worth about $16 million.
