Recycling concrete barriers

A paddle crusher converts deteriorated barriers into one-inch bits at the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Contract Management Flight crushing site July 2, 2010, Joint Base Balad, Iraq. A paddle wheel inside spins and crushes the concrete, and afterward the pieces are moved to a vibrating sorting box. These pieces of a once massive concrete slab are then recycled in roadwork, erosion and dust control projects. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Senior Airman Matt Coleman-Foster)
