A patient is loaded onto a C-130 Hercules assigned to the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, April 20, 2010, at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. One of the most vital airlift missions is aeromedical evacuation (AE). AE teams carry equipment for nearly every scenario: stretchers, stretcher racks, defibrillators, suction machines, IVs, oxygen tanks and other medical equipment that help save lives and move warfighters to higher medical care. The aircrew is from California Air National Guard?s 115th Airlift Squadron Channel Island National Guard Station at Port Hueneme, Calif. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Manuel J. Martinez/released)
