First Lt. Matthew Simpkins is a KC-10 Extender co-pilot with the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron deployed to a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia. Here he is pictured on Feb. 6, 2010. The 908th EARS is an attached unit of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. The KC-10 is used extensively for air refueling operations in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
