Bagram Airfield opens $68 million runway

Brig. Gen. Christopher Miller, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing commander (L) along with Abdul Taqwa, governor of Parwan Province and Maj. Gen. Benjamin Freakley cut the ribbon officially opening the new runway at Bagram Airfield Dec. 20. The new runway is 2000 feet longer than the previous runway and was designed to accept the majority of aircraft in the military inventory, although it can accept larger aircraft such as the C-5 Galaxy and Boeing 747 if necessary.
