Bagram team parks 2,000th transient aircraft

Maj. Timothy Coger uses paddles to direct a C-17 into its parking spot Sept. 2, at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. The major is the commander of the 455th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron at Bagram. The C-17, from the 62nd Airlift Wing, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., was the 2,000th transient aircraft to land at Bagram for Air Expeditionary Force one and two, which began May 7, for the transient alert team here. Two-thousand planes equates to an average of almost 17 aircraft transiting Bagram per day. Transient aircraft are those that arrive at Bagram to unload, or load, cargo and passengers to support Operation Enduring Freedom, then take off again and are not assigned here. Major Coger is deployed to Bagram from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. (US Air Force photo/Maj. David Kurle)
