The 22nd EARS has a long history with a series of assignments leading to his present status in Air Combat Command. The squadron joined the fight during the Global War on Terror in 2001 and currently provides support to Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. Since its reactivation, its involvement in OEF, the latest chapter of the 22nd EARS remains to be written, but given its completion of 16,000 sorties in supporting the current mission, its history books surely have many pages remaining.
