The unrenovated shell of Birdick Village School patiently awaits a new future compliments of an effort by the United States to completely renovate the Soviet- era building. Scheduled for completion in Autumn 2009, the $470,000 effort will provide more than 200 children a quality learning environment. Currently, the children walk several miles to a neighboring school to attend classes. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Phyllis Hanson)
