Bishkek students get insiders' glimpse of Manas mission

Aiperi Otunchieva, experiences holding a falcon, named Mustang, while the bird?s keeper Alan Marenghi assists. Ms. Otunchieva, a 19-year-old sophomore at the American University of Central Asia, visited Manas with 12 other students and faculty for an orientation tour and dinner hosted by the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs office. The visit provided the students a look at the missions carried out daily in support of operations in Afghanistan, while building friendships with coalition personnel deployed here. Mr. Marenghi is a contractor from the United Kingdom who maintains Mustang who is an important member of the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing because its job is to keep the flightline clear of birds that could potentially damage the aircraft on the base.
