BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Airmen assigned to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing board a C-17 Globemaster III at Balad Air Base, Iraq, May 21. The Airmen, many of whom deployed under the Air Expeditionary Force 1 and 2 rotations, are re-deploying to their home stations following successful four and six-month tours in Iraq. During AEF 1 and 2, Balad Airmen controlled 327,000 square miles of airspace, built a $9.6 million combat search and rescue helicopter ramp and in- and out-processed more than 8,000 Airmen and civilians.
