Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa

Airman 1st Class Candace Reese, a ramp controller assigned to the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron, coordinates movement of a Russian Antonov 124-100 heavy lift cargo aircraft, Jan. 2, 2009, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Reese is the liaison between the aircrew and the transient alert technician. After loading 7 pallets of equipment and supplies, the plane had to be repositioned to load a heavy equipment vehicle. The equipment and supplies are being delivered farther into the Central Command area of responsibility in support of operations in Afghanistan. Airman Reese is a native of St. Louis, Mo., and is deployed from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
