BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Staff Sgt. Gary Messer, 332nd Expeditionary Aerospace Medical Squadron bioenvironmental engineer, pours bacteria culture food into a sample of water taken from the Air Force Theater Hospital before placing it in an incubator for 24 hours here, March 13. The culture food will drive any bacteria that may be in the water to grow at a rapid rate. This water however was free of any bacteria so no reaction or growth occurred. Sergeant Messer is deployed from Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Senior Airman Julianne Showalter)
