Staff Sgt. Melinda Van Dyk, lead controller assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, places the C-130 pallet rollers in place as part of setting up for an air evacuation of injured personnel Dec. 29, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. These EAES members are responsible for evacuating injured personnel from the area of responsibility and providing medical assistance until they can be evacuated to a medical facility. Sergeant Van Dyk, a native of Sioux City, Iowa, is deployed from Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
