ECS keeps Communications ready

SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Staff Sgt. Andres Madera from the 380th Expeditionary Communications Squadron calls his shop to verify the location of a port for a copper wire install here. He is relocating a phone line for Emergency Management which relocated recently. Sergeant Madera is working in one of eight Information Transfer Nodes or communications hub to provide communication support to the 380th. There are 3,000 copper lines coming from the remote communication building. Sergeant Madera is deployed from the 18th CS, Kadena Air Base, Japan, his hometown is Orlando, Fla.
