(12/03/08) - Staff Sgt. LaToya High is this week's Diamond Sharp Airman. The 376th Expeditionary Contracting Squadron officer is deployed from the 88th Contracting Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. During her deployment to Manas, Sergeant High has executed an emergency contract valued at $50,000. Her actions also ensured the safe removal and handling of 1,260 cubic meters of waste water and, in turn, averted a host nation conflict and dining facility closure. Sergeant High’s contracting knowledge and initiative enabled her to de-obligate over $1M dollars in excess funds that were returned to the wing to support other projects and purchase supplies. According to her supervisor, “She takes the initiative as a Contingency Contracting Officer and requires very little to no supervision in her duties.
