SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Maj. Rob Matlock, the 12th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron commander and Global Hawk pilot, discusses the first operational transatlantic joint-launched Global Hawk with the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing Historian, Lane Bourgeios here Sept. 21. The unmanned aircraft was only on the ground for about five hours after its historic flight from Pax River, Md., Sept. 20 before being turned around and sent into the Area of Operations. The operational flight also marked the first time two Global Hawks were being flown simultaneously in neighboring theaters in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
