Balad airlifters complete 25,000th combat sortie

OVER IRAQ -- Capt. Sara Kershaw, a C-130 Hercules aircraft commander with the 777th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron flies an airlift mission between Al-Asad Air Base and Baghdad International Airport Sept. 3. Kershaw and her aircrew flew the 777th EAS' 25,000th combat sortie since beginning operations at Joint Base Balad in February 2006. In that time, the squadron has carried more than 200,000 passengers and more than 98 million pounds of cargo. The aircrew is deployed from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., and the aircraft is deployed from the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Airlift Wing. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt.
