Bringing the voice

Airman 1st Class Joshua Slaughter, 379th Civil Engineer Squadron, disconnects a strap that was used to connect a new tower to the crane Aug. 26, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Slaughter working from a man lift works from a height even with the top of the tower to loosen and remove the strap. Airman Slaughter along with Senior Airman Kyle Troxell, 379 ECES, are members of a team exchanging aging towers with a sturdier replacement that should last nearly twice as long. The Giant Voice system is used to communicate important information to all base populace instantaneously. Airman Slaughter, a native of Eagle, Neb., is deployed from Travis Air Force Base, Calif. Airman Troxell is deployed from Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Both are deployed in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech.
