An Airman assigned to the 380th Expeditionary Medical Squadron performs a tracheostomy on a simulated injured patient within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, Mar. 04, 2025. When other methods prove ineffective, a tracheostomy is a way to secure an airway and ensure adequate ventilation in a patient who has sustained severe trauma.
