    C-17 Globemaster III: An aircraft as versatile as AE crews

    Larger, faster and flexible – a flying ICU. Since joining the U.S. Air Force fleet in 1993, the C-17 Globemaster III has significantly expanded aeromedical evacuation capabilities. In addition to its transport and other numerous mission sets, the C-17 converts to provide aeromedical evacuation to patients in a broad variety of conditions. The aircraft has played critical roles in various contingencies, bringing warfighters to higher levels of care, bringing patients home to the U.S., and aiding in humanitarian efforts to save the lives of those impacted by natural disasters.

    Back in the fight: C-17 resumes airdrops in AOR

    An Al Udeid-based C-17 completed the first combat-airdrop mission in 18 months over Southern Afghanistan, May 10-11.

    ATOC works around the clock to keep cargo and personnel moving

    Maintaining the inbound and outbound movement of cargo and personnel in support of Combined Joint Task Force -Operation Inherent Resolve requires careful coordination between a multitude of entities. In order for the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing to effectively complete its mission and deliver decisive airpower against ISIS it needs a nerve center to track aerial port operations. It needs an air terminal operations center.

    816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron answers the call in the Middle East

    The 816th EAS, based at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, is vital to the Air Force’s efforts to combat terrorism in the Middle East. Those efforts range from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan.

    Airmen deliver aid to refugees in northern Iraq

    Six pallets, more than 50,000 pounds, over a quarter of a million Kurdish refugees fed. Reservists from the 315th Airlift Wing delivered humanitarian aid bound for refugee camps in northern Iraq this weekend while also conducting a multifaceted training mission.
