U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend, Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve commanding general, visited Airmen and Soldiers here, April 5, 2016. The general offered his thanks to the service members accomplishing the mission and shared the accomplishments gained from their hard work.

The CJTF-OIR mission states that “by, with and through regional partners, is to militarily defeat ISIS in the Combined Joint Operations Area in order to enable whole-of-coalition governmental actions to increase regional stability.”

The 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing helps increase that regional stability and CJTF-OIR’s top ranking official praised their part in the fight.

“The U.S. Air Force at-large is accomplishing all of the top components of the fight,” Townsend said. “Right here at this wing OIR components are being accomplished by you every day.”

The general extended his gratitude to the service members, spoke in-depth of the ground and regional areas gained in the last year and also recognized outstanding performers with a CJTF-OIR coin.
