Despite uncertainty surrounding the covid-19 pandemic, joint warfighters assigned to Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, continue to deter malign actors in the region.

Since its re-establishment, PSAB has acted as a clear and consistent contributor to U.S. Central Command’s objectives in the region.

“Our mission at PSAB is vital to the execution of our national defense strategy and is enhanced by the airframes we are flying,” said Brig. Gen. John Walker, 378 AEW commander.  “We are a reinforcing deterrent measure against Iranian aggression and the malign actors in the region.  At all times, we are – and must remain – ready to respond.”

Recently, F-15C Eagles who forward deployed from an undisclosed location, began conducting operations as part of the 378th Air Expeditionary Wing. Their air-to-air capability is seen as a key contributor in the installation’s ability to maintain air superiority and increase the operational depth in the CENTCOM area of responsibility

“It’s an honor to be here continuing the traditions of PSAB and deterring malign actors in the region,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Corrigan, 378 AEW F-15 squadron commander. “No matter what’s happening in the world we stand steadfast, able to accomplish the mission.”

In addition to the F-15C, PSAB also plays host to the U.S. Marine AV-8B Harrier II assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 214 from Yuma, Arizona. The Harrier, highlights the installation’s versatility and capability to host joint service aircraft who are also conducting missions in the region.

The wing continues to grow and expand its capabilities to meet mission requirements,” Walker said.  “We will continue to reassure the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as other partners and allies, that U.S. military units in the region continue to operate at full capacity, and that we remain unwavering in our pursuit of regional stability.”
