379th AEW Commander sends Thanksgiving message

SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Grand Slam Wing,

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches I am reminded of all the things I have to be thankful for ... and the majority of those things are tied to the great work you do each and every day.

Our nation, our families and our friends rest in peace each night because of the sacrifices you are making serving in this area of responsibility. As I look back over the past year and a half I have been at Al Udeid and think of the visits to each section that I have made, I am amazed by what I have seen accomplished. I am so proud to lead this team of stellar Airman and am humbled to serve alongside each one of you.

I know it is hard to be away from your families, friends, and loved ones at this time of year, but I want you to know and remember the incredible difference that you are making here, both for the people in this part of the world and for folks back home. If at any time you are feeling lonely or feel like you need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to reach out to a friend or a wingman for support. Similarly, if you see your fellow Airmen in need, reach out to them. We are a family, and we have to take care of each other.

Throughout this holiday season I want to take the time to express my sincerest thanks for all your hard work throughout this past year. Without you, we would not be the great warfighting unit that we are, and for that, I cannot thank you enough. Leslie and I wish each of you a very safe and joyous holiday season.
