Al Udeid AB, Qatar --

The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing hosted a ribbon cutting for the FOX Sports Skybox grand re-opening on Aug. 10, 2019 after closing its doors on July 8 to undergo a makeover.

“This is a much improved version from what we have enjoyed over the last nine years,” said Brig. Gen. Daniel Tulley, 379th AEW commander. “This $250,000 donation has helped us.”

The lounge has been the centerpiece for Al Udeid’s rest and relaxation for the past nine years. It is one of the most frequented facilities on the installation.

“[The facility] has had roughly a million people come through, not just people deployed here, but also in transit to locations like Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Tulley.

The original facility, known as The Desert Eagle Lounge, was renovated by FOX Sports on June 25, 2010.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work on some great projects and meet some amazing people,” said Larry Jones, FOX Sports executive vice president. “But working on the original construction in 2010 and the renovations of the FOX Sports Skybox on this base [this year] has truly been one of the great joys of my career.”
