On May 21, 2021, members of the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, administered their first Army Combat Fitness Test since the implementation of COVID protocols established by the Department of Defense in early 2020. Recent changes in guidance due to lowered transmission rates enabled operations here at AUAB to open up more, allowing the Army to conduct the ACFT using the TAK pad at the base gym. The pad is crucial to the ACFT, as it allows the Army to conduct the leg tuck portion of the test, while maintaining COVID-19 mitigation protocols. The ACFT consists of six exercises, including deadlifts, leg tucks and a two mile run, and is under diagnostic review before full implementation as the standard for Army fitness testing.
