Scheduled power outages may effect missions Published June 13, 2013 By Senior Airman Bahja J. Jones 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Multiple power outages are scheduled to take place June 13 to 30, affecting multiple areas across operations and logistics here. The outages are due to the transition of three power plants from DynCorp to CKGS, in line with the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program power production contract. The 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron is working to ensure all mission critical facilities have the power needed to execute the mission. "We will do everything we can to get the most critical missions on back-up power," said Lt. Col. Chad BonDurant, the 379th ECES commander. "To do that, those missions might experience power outages for shorter durations so they have power the majority of the time." All units with mission critical components must determine when their facility will be without power, notify the 379th ECES if the scheduled power outage will severely impact the mission and if back-up power is needed for a specified time. Finally, units will need to provide the 379th ECES with a point of contact to coordinate specific details as soon as possible. "They are available to make a site visit to talk through the details of the power outage and listen to your mission requirements in order to come up with a solution that's best for your mission and the base," BonDurant said.
