A 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Airman was recently named the 2011 Outstanding U.S. Air Force Air Reserve Component Aircrew Flight Equipment Airman of the Year.

Senior Airman Kimberly Robinson, 379th Aircrew Flight Equipment C-130 Hercules technician, was recognized for the award as a result of her accomplishments while stationed with the 911th Operations Support Squadron, Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, Pa.

Robinson flawlessly created, managed and standardized her unit's quality assurance program for all equipment and shop programs.

"Her development and implementation of our quality assurance programs ensures that our aircrew flight equipment is 100 percent serviceable every time we fly," said Lt. Col. Chuck Sargent, 911th OSS commander. "I am extremely proud of Senior Airman Robinson's leadership and accomplishments."

Robinson said she was surprised when she learned about the award. She was not aware her name had been submitted until the winners were announced.

"It came as quite a shock to me," she said. "It is truly an honor to be recognized for this award, considering there are many amazing and dedicated Airman doing great work throughout the AFE career field."

The dedication to the mission was apparent as soon as she joined her deployed team with the 379th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron.

"She is the epitome of a go-getter, hard-charging Airman," said Tech. Sgt. Elyse Michniak, 379th EOSS AFE C-130 noncommissioned officer in charge. "She is always striving to learn more and continually improving herself. I couldn't ask for a more dedicated worker."

Robinson is scheduled to be recognized by the 911th Airlift Wing and the Air Force Reserve Command after she returns home from her successful deployment.
