Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa
1st Lt. William Durband, 243 Air Defense Artillery, secures a package for mailing, while Airman 1st Class Rebecca Goodwin, postal clerk assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Communications Squadron, prepares to weigh and mark postage on the package Nov. 28, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The postal clerks are responsible for ensuring that a customs check is completed on all items being sent through the mail. All packages are also x-rayed to ensure that no illegal or dangerous items are being mailed. The postal center recommends packages sent by priority mail be sent out no later than 6 Dec., to allow time to clear customs and still make it to its destination by Christmas. 1st Lt. Durband, a native of Chicago Ill., is deployed from Fort Bliss, Texas. Airman Goodwin hails from San Jose, Calif., and is deployed from Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal. Both are deployed in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Michael Boquette/Released)
