379th Operations Group change of command

Col. Robert F. Gass took command of the 379th Expeditionary Operations Group from outgoing commander Col. William Mullins during a change of command ceremony Thursday. 

Colonel Gass came to the wing from the Pentagon, where he was Chief, Strategy Integration and Analysis Division, J-5, the Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.. 

The colonel was previously the 9th Bomb Squadron commander, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. 

He was also the Deputy Chief, Global Deterrance and Strike Division, Washington, D.C., Chief of Air Campaign Strategy and the Air Operations Center, 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. 

While here, the incoming commander will oversee the largest, most diverse expeditionary operations group in the Air Force, responsible for providing combat air power and global mobility for U.S. Central Command, supporting Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. 

Colonel Gass' education includes a bachelor's in political science from the University of California, Irvine; a master's degree in humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills; a MMAS degree in theater operations from the Army School of Advanced Military Studies and a master's in national security studies from the National War College.
