The Combined Federal Campaign is an annual event which allows federal employees an opportunity to donate to charitable organizations of their choice through payroll deductions and lasts from Sept.to Dec.

This year the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia, exceeded their campaign goal of $155,000. The 379th AEW collected a total of $157,941, surpassing last year's total of $154,552.

"The men and women who are deployed here are extremely giving, care for one another and make a difference," said Brig. Gen. Roger H. Watkins, 379th AEW commander on a two-year rotation from Fort Worth, Texas. "I am humbled to be part of such a generous organization and I want to thank everyone who contributed to the CFC. It is important for people to understand that even though we may be many miles away, our hearts are filled with good intent to help those in need back home."

According to the campaign's website, the CFC is the largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas locations raising millions of dollars each year.

Additionally one of the 379th AEW's mission partners, exceeded their campaign goal. The Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade set a goal of contributing $3,100 and collected more than $3,500 to end the campaign.

"The military has a long line of supporters from corporations to non-profit organizations and civilians who have never served in the Armed Forces," said 1st Sgt. Joshua Wannemacher, 31st ADA said. "I feel like the CFC is one way we can give back to the community and support an organization or cause greater than ourselves. This year (our unit) not only met, but exceeded our goal. Giving back to the community in which they serve and exceeding goals are just two examples of how we conduct business on a daily basis."
