U.S. Air Forces Central Band the "Blue Yonders," visited a local school in Southwest Asia, Oct. 28.

During their visit, the band performed a 30-minute show for middle and high school students in the main theater, playing a blend of bluegrass, Americana, Irish music and more.

The performance was well received as band members interacted with students showing them easy dance steps to go along with their style of music.

In an additional performance for the elementary school students, the band had an opportunity to teach students about the instruments they played and answer questions.

The AFCENT Band is the first permanently assigned Air Force Band to the Central Command Area of Responsibility. Based in Southwest Asia, the band is comprised of deployed Airmen from active duty, Reserve and Air National Guard bands.

These dynamic musicians perform and tour in small ensembles throughout the Area of Responsibility to positively promote troop morale, diplomacy and outreach to host nation communities. The Band rotates several ensembles through the AOR performing a wide variety of musical styles to appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
