Navy Chief Petty Officer Glen Gartley poses alongside his nephew, Senior Airman Ross Gartley Aug. 9 at the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing here.

The two were coincidentally deployed together supporting missions at the 379th AEW here and the Chief said he enjoyed the shared deployment experience as it gave him an opportunity to give his nephew insight on the Navy operations.

Though currently the only Gartley's serving, they come from an extensive legacy of military service, dating back to the 1950's with the chief's father, a retired senior master sergeant.

Glen is the Patrol Squadron 1 Detachment 1 senior enlisted leader deployed from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Wash., and an Atwater, Calif., native. Ross is a 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron special vehicle maintenance fire truck mechanic deployed from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., and hails from Fairfield, Calif.
