Grand Slam Airmen are continuing their efforts to raise donation funds in support of the 2014 Combined Federal Campaign before it concludes here November 7.

The CFC, which raises millions of dollars each year, supports eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human services benefits throughout the world.

“The wing has done a tremendous job of showcasing selflessness by donating over $64, 000 to date,” said Captain Matt Cherry, the Grand Slam community lead CFC representative assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, here. “With about one week left there is still time to give,” he said.

According to the Office of Personnel Management website, the federal agency that sponsors the campaign, the CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas.

“The CFC is an incredible opportunity to give back to people and communities in need,” said Cherry. “Consolidating charitable [contributions] by DoD members over eight weeks is an excellent way for service members to donate to over two thousand charitable organizations in a relatively short amount of time”

With more than 200 CFC representatives supporting more than 9,000 personnel deployed here, the wing is well on its way to make 100% contacts with personnel serving in the Grand Slam community.

“The CFC would not be as successful as it is without the volunteer representatives and committee members that make the campaign a success,”said Cherry. “There are over 200 [CFC representatives] across the wing who have [supported our donation efforts] for this year's CFC campaign.”

The 2014 CFC season opened September 1st and closes November 7. To make a CFC donation please contact your unit CFC representative.
