During a change of command ceremony here, Jan 14, Lt. Col. June Oldman assumed command of the 379th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron from Col. Janet Sessums.

The 379th Expeditionary Operations Group commander, Col. Jim Dittus, who presided over the ceremony, commended Sessums for her many accomplishments as the EAES commander and welcomed Oldman to her new command.

“Our mission remains committed to providing and delivering the best possible care to our wounded warriors,” Oldman said. “I am committed to making sure the team has everything needed to stay focused and meet our goal.”

Before passing the ceremonial guidon to Oldman, Sessums thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve as the 379th EAES commander and left a challenge for the cadre of Airmen.

“This has been a great deployment,” Sessums said, “We have overcome many challenges and have all certainly learned some new things.” She added, “To the incoming 379th EAES members, I challenge you to find ways to improve how we accomplish the mission and leave the squadron in better shape than you found it.”

After the guidon was passed and Oldman assumed command of the 379th EAES, she commended Sessums and her team for their execution of the mission and said she would continue to uphold the great partnerships the previous team forged and continue to build and improve on them.

As commander of the aeromedical evacuation squadrons, Oldman is responsible for ensuring Airmen under her charge have what they need to effectively accomplish their mission, which includes transporting U.S. servicemembers deployed to U.S. Central Command’s area of operations to medical facilities that provide more advanced levels of care not available in the AOR.

Sessums, who hails from the 172nd Airlift Wing,Thompson Field in Jackson, Miss., will return to her home unit where she is the commander of the 183rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron.
