AL UDEID AIR BASE, QATAR -- Team Al Udeid gives Coalition Compound pool walls a makeover at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar in November.
“A few of us got together and thought it would be nice to give back to the base,” said Tech. Sgt. Cory Farrell, 379th EFSS Fox Sky Box, noncommissioned officer-in-charge. “We thought about painting a mural so when people are lounging at the pool they can see more than tan walls,” he said.
The theme for the pool mural is a desert oasis and the first task in completing the mural was stenciling pictures on the interior walls. After stenciling was complete, volunteers came out to paint the mural.
“This is a great team building exercise that has taken the skills of different ranks and career fields,” said Capt. Christina MacDonald 379th EFSS community services flight commander. “I hope that after the project is complete, it will bring a new atmosphere to the pool and allow people to escape the reality of their deployment,” she said.
“It will provide an oasis in the desert, a small escape from reality and peace in chaos,” MacDonald said. “The CC pool is a huge draw for everyone at Al Udeid.”
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.
